La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo [+] | Review

jodie / 26th September 2014

I’ve only recently discovered this little wonder-product, but it’s already made a massive difference to my skin. I first saw it on A Model Recommends, the author of which swears by it for clearing up any spots, and after some research, I discovered this was a cult skincare favourite. I don’t have massively blemish prone skin, but I do get…

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer | Review

jodie / 25th September 2014

I got this after reading tons of blogs in order to find a concealer which wouldn’t crease under my eyes or look powdery and caked on. The general consensus was that this concealer is the one of the best; it was a toss up between this and MAC Pro Longwear, but seeing as I was buying a bottle of NARS Sheer Glow at the same time, I thought it made sense to buy the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to accompany it.

Handy Heroes: My Top 5 Hand Creams

jodie / 23rd September 2014

If, like me, your hands are always dry, regardless of season, you’ll appreciate these creams. They’re guaranteed to give you a “helping hand” when it comes to keeping things hydrated. I’ve picked my 5 favorite hand creams…

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Lightly Whipped Body Buttercream | Review

jodie / 22nd September 2014

What a mouthful! I bought this because it smells absolutely delicious – practically edible (although, sadly, it’s not, so don’t go tasting it, no matter how tempted you are). This is probably due to its impressive list of featured ingredients: pistachio oil, almond oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil.

Battle of the Boxes: Brichbox vs. Glossybox

jodie / 19th September 2014

This September I have received not one but TWO subscription boxes! Why? Well, I tried unsubscribing from Birchbox because I wasn’t very impressed with the products, and I guess I was too late and they’ve sent me (and billed me for, sadface) this month’s fares. OH WELL. I thought I’d try Glossybox instead, so I guess I benefit from seeing them side by side. Let’s see how they compare…

7 Steps to Sensational Skin

jodie / 18th September 2014

I’m a firm believer in investing more money, time, and effort on your skincare than on your makeup. If you’ve got £30 to spend on either a nice bottle of Estee Lauder Double Wear, or some alpha/beta hydroxy acids, a nice, soothing moisturiser, and a gentle cleanser, I’d go for the latter because it’s better to have skin that glows and is blemish free, than to cover up your mishaps with the thickest, hardiest foundation you can find.

Micellar Waters: Garnier vs L’Oreal

jodie / 17th September 2014

Thanks to my ultra-sensitive skin, I’ve always struggled to find a makeup remover that’s both gentle and effective. That’s why I got super excited when I picked up Garnier’s Simply Essentials Soothing 2 in 1 Makeup Remover, and discovered it didn’t upset my skin in the slightest, and removed most of my stubborn mascara. But we’ll get to that later…

Soap & Glory “Feel Good Factor Translucent BB Cream SPF25” | Review

jodie / 16th September 2014

This is my go-to day moisturiser. If I’m leaving the house and it’s particularly sunny (or even sometimes when it’s not), chances are, I’ll be wearing this under my makeup. I’ve been quite loyal to this little tube for about 2 years now, because it just ticks all the right boxes for me. I’ve flirted with other moisturisers, even used some of them for quite a while, but I think I’ll always come back to this one.

Here’s a few reasons why I love it…

A word on trying out new products

jodie / 15th September 2014

I think it’s really important to give a product enough time and a fair chance to do its job before forming a real opinion on it – unless it seriously irritates the skin of course, in which case fling it out the window (preferably while screeching like a furious chimpanzee hurling its faeces at a sexual rival).

Blush, Makeup

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Blush in “Peach Passion Shimmer” | Review

jodie / 15th September 2014

I got this as part of a free gift when buying some other stuff from Estee Lauder. How cool is the packaging? It looks awesome in my makeup bag. And it’s such a lovely little blush. It’s the perfect shade for all year round – a lovely, slightly coraly pink, which is warm enough for summer skin, but pink enough for winter when I’m rocking the pale and interesting look. It’s pretty pigmented, so you only need a light hand, but it’s not as pigmented as some other blushes (NARS, I’m looking at you), so you don’t need to worry about it being hard to blend if you put a little too much on your brush. No sign of clown cheeks here!
