Who am I?
My name is Jodie. I grew up in Wales but moved to Reading a little while ago. I’ve worked a lot of marketing jobs but I particularly enjoy content writing and SEO, so I work on my blog during my spare time. My favourite things are dogs, skincare, perfume and baths.
Why did I start this blog?
I started this blog in 2012 as part of a university project. I studied Marketing and my class was encouraged to write a blog about something that interested them – not just because it’s great to get creative and put your thoughts down somewhere, but also because it’s fantastic for showing potential employers your talents.
It didn’t take me long to pick a topic: I spend a lot of money on beauty products, but also a lot of time researching which ones are good. I found (at the time) there was a lack of focus on whether beauty products were suitable for sensitive skin, so I decided to review products with this angle. I was struggling really badly at the time with eczema on my face. This ruined my self-confidence, but also motivated me to do a ton of research into ingredients and whether they’d help or hinder the healing of eczema. And Madame Raptor was born!
Of course, this has snowballed and I ended up writing about way more than just skincare. I spend far too much money on shit, so I like to review it!
Why “Madame Raptor”?
For some reason, people seem to pick up on the fact that I quite like dinosaurs. Now, I personally feel as though I like them a normal amount, but it’s clearly become a sort of theme that my associates have picked up on. So I guess that’s the root of it.
