A word on trying out new products

jodie / 15th September 2014

I think it’s really important to give a product enough time and a fair chance to do its job before forming a real opinion on it – unless it seriously irritates the skin of course, in which case fling it out the window (preferably while screeching like a furious chimpanzee hurling its faeces at a sexual rival).

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Blush in “Peach Passion Shimmer” | Review

jodie / 15th September 2014

I got this as part of a free gift when buying some other stuff from Estee Lauder. How cool is the packaging? It looks awesome in my makeup bag. And it’s such a lovely little blush. It’s the perfect shade for all year round – a lovely, slightly coraly pink, which is warm enough for summer skin, but pink enough for winter when I’m rocking the pale and interesting look. It’s pretty pigmented, so you only need a light hand, but it’s not as pigmented as some other blushes (NARS, I’m looking at you), so you don’t need to worry about it being hard to blend if you put a little too much on your brush. No sign of clown cheeks here!

Dealing With Nightmare Hair

jodie / 9th September 2014

I thought it would be a great idea to go from light brown to firey copper (maybe with a few flashes of blonde, ’cause I’m a wildcard like that) to shake things up a bit, and to really get into the Autumnal vibe. This is what I was thinking: Pretty cool, right? I’ve never done anything interesting with my hair…

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads | Review

jodie / 8th September 2014

I bought these after searching far and wide for a chemical exfoliant that was neither too harsh, nor too weak to do its job – these pads have 2.8% glycolic acid, so I thought this was enough to get me started (you can never be too careful when it comes to chemicals and the skin on your face). These had…

Avene Skincare Samples | Reviews

jodie / 7th September 2014

I had a wonderful surprise on Thursday when I came home from work to find that a little package from Avene had arrived. If you complete the skincare questionnaire on their website, they ask for your details (name, address etc.), you create an account, and they’ll send you some products based on your skin analysis. I think this is a…

Jurassic Jumper: Fat Face

jodie / 5th September 2014

Okay…this might be from the boys section. And by boys, I mean boys, not mens. But let’s be honest: it’s pretty damn cool, right? It’s got a dinosaur on it; of course it is. It’s snuggly without being too warm when the weather is unpredictable, and it goes rather nicely with a red skater skirt. It’s a size – sorry,…

YSL Forever Youth Liberator Eye Zone Serum | Review

jodie / 3rd September 2014

I bought this with my first ever pay cheque from my first proper job, so you’ll forgive me (’cause I sure as hell won’t) for waving goodbye to almost £50 for a piddly amount of liquid that’s supposed to sort out my panda eyes. The things we do for vanity… This serum claims to target “the whole panoramic eye zone:…
